Our Story

Our stories may have started off in different parts of the world but God’s hand has been on us every step of the way. Our journey is one of grace, adventure and love. Love for each other, our creator and the life He has called us to.

Morgan arrived at the Hub in South Africa in August 2010 and Tommy in February 2011. We both felt a calling on our lives to do something greater, to serve the most vulnerable in Africa. Morgan had come to Africa with Hands in 2008 on a short-term team and had been serving in Hands’ local Canadian office prior coming back to Africa. Tommy had always been drawn to Africa and focused his studies on Economic and development in Africa.

We fell in love and where married in May 2013. It was such a special day! Better then we could have ever dreamed.

Our community of international volunteers and local African leaders is a constant source of inspiration and growth. There is something so special and unique about living and working alongside a group of people who seemingly should not fit together. But somehow we do! And it’s a privilege to call them family.

Tommy helps support our local Africa bookkeepers in all 8 countries that Hands at Work works in. He enjoys working alongside young local Africa leaders, bringing patience and guidance as they learn new skills. He has a special place in his heart for the work and people in Nigeria.

Morgan co-ordinates Hands at Work Communication Team, which focuses on spreading the Hands message and voice to the church outside of Africa. Her background is in Multimedia Communications and she has a passion for speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves(prov. 31: 8).

Together we have traveled to many of the African countries, witnessing the brokenness but also the hope in many of our children and Care Workers. The more of Africa we see, the more we are sure of this life that we have been called to.

In 2017 our little family grew! Finnley was born in South Africa on April 11th. He is a constant source of joy, smiles and cuddles for all!
